Fire Department Access Improvements

The grassy area across from the Ranger Station is currently closed as part of a Cambridge Fire Department access-improvement project.  The area is blocked off to allow for establishment of grass and is expected to re-open by December 1, 2013.

The replacement of the underground water vault was completed at the end of September 2013.  The area remains closed off to allow re-establishment of turf and is expected to re-open by December 1, 2013.  Check back here for updates.  For the latest on the Cambridge Water Department and Fresh Pond Reservation, follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

As of October 1, the area has been closed off to allow the sod to establish and is expected to re-open by December 1, 2013.

The aim of this construction project, located in the grassy area across from the Ranger Station, is to improve Cambridge Fire Department access to the area.  The access improvements are necessary to ensure adequate area and water access for the Fire Department to test fire engine hose and pumping equipment.  The first stage of the project, conducted at the end of September 2013, involved the reinforcement of an underground water vault.  The second, and final stage, is re-sodding the area for re-establishment of turf.  As of October 1, the area has been closed off to allow the sod to establish and is expected to re-open by December 1, 2013.
