A bridge replacement project located in Weston along the Stony Brook and Hobbs Brook confluence.

The Weston Transfer Station Bridge Replacement has been completed.  As of 9/9/13, outstanding items including constructing the stormwater/flood storage basin and the wetland replication area have been completed

Planning for the Weston Bridge Transfer Station began in 2010 after high floods in March damaged the structural integrity of the bridge. Construction began in the summer of 2013 and was completed early September 2013.

After flooding in March 2010, the Town of Weston is replacing a small bridge to its heavily used Transfer Station.  The bridge crosses the Stony Brook and the roadway leading to it abuts the Hobbs Brook, the two major tributaries feeding Cambridge’s water supply reservoirs.  The project will ultimately benefit water quality and water supply security by pulling the road back and pitching it away from the Hobbs Brook, by creating a larger opening under the new bridge to reduce flooding, and by constructing a combination compensatory flood storage and stormwater treatment basin near the southern parking lot.  Watershed staff made routine inspections to ensure construction phase impacts were minimal and that erosion controls were functioning as intended.
