Natural Resources Restoration

Under guidance from the Fresh Pond Master Plan and various steering committees, the City of Cambridge has spent considerable time and resources in improving water and habitat quality in the Fresh Pond Reservoir watershed through on-the-ground restoration projects.  Focused restoration efforts in Fresh Pond Reservation can be seen in Black's Nook, Lusitania Meadow, Lusitania Woodlands, Glacken Slope, and the Fresh Pond Parkway Community Gardens corridor.

Using the approach applied in Fresh Pond Reservation, the City will start to identify and scope potential ecological restoration projects in Cambridge-owned watershed lands in future years.  As part of this effort, the Watershed Division has expanded its invasive species management to upcountry properties.
