Post Blizzard 2013 Updates

Blizzard 2013 Update for Cambridge: Thursday, Feb. 14 at 9:45 a.m.:

Thank you to everyone for your efforts clearing your property and sidewalks.  City staff are enforcing the Sidewalk Snow and Ice Removal Ordinance, and today will begin removing items in the street being used as “parking spot savers.”  Recycling and trash continue to be picked up on their regularly scheduled days.

City crews have been working continuously since the start of the blizzard to plow and salt all streets, and to clear pedestrian ways next to schools, public buildings, parks, major squares and high-volume bus stops.

Crews have also been conducting overnight snow clearing operations at all bus stops, crosswalks and pedestrian ramps along priority routes, including: Aberdeen Ave, Broadway, Brookline St, Cambridge St, Concord Ave, Granite St, Green St (Brookline to Western), Huron Ave, Mass Ave, Mt Auburn St, Pearl St, Prospect St, Rindge Ave, River St, and Western Ave.  Please note that additional clearing may still be needed, and will continue for as long as necessary.

Targeted overnight snow removal continues on narrow streets, and at intersections and crosswalks identified as priority locations by public safety officials.  These operations are being conducted at night because both vehicle traffic and pedestrian volume are at their lowest levels; we appreciate everyone’s patience with the night-time noise associated with these operations, which are being conducted in the interest of public safety.
