Cambridge–Memorial Drive: MassDOT to close Reid Overpass on Sunday, April 7 for Six Month to Conduct Structural Repairs
On Sunday, April 7, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be closing the bridge that carries Memorial Drive over the rotary at the BU Bridge in Cambridge. The bridge, known as the Reid Overpass, will be closed to all vehicles, as well as to cyclists and pedestrians in both the eastbound and westbound directions. All vehicles will be diverted to the surface roadways and through the BU Bridge/Brookline Street rotary, and back on to Memorial Drive. The overpass will be closed to allow crews to perform structural repairs; the work is anticipated to last six months. For transportation news and updates visit MassDOT at: www.mass.gov/massdot

Memorial Drive Western Avenue Construction Work Continues and will Impact Traffic
Installation work of a 36” drain line on Western Avenue near Memorial Drive will be continuing for the next few weeks. This work will impact traffic significantly on Western Avenue and Memorial Drive and motorists (especially getting to the Mass Pike from Memorial Drive or Western Avenue) and MBTA riders could experience significant delays during the morning commute. The traffic implications will not only affect the residents of Cambridge, but those who access Memorial Drive from neighboring cities and towns, such as Boston and Watertown. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if at all possible. General work hours will be from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and traffic is expected to be impacted during that time, though delays still occur in the off hours. Police details will be on site to direct traffic during the repair work hours. CityRun 5-Mile Road Race and 3-Mile Fun Walk Sunday, Apr. 7 to Impact Traffic
Reporting Time: 8:30-10 a.m., Starting Time: 10:30 a.m.
This scenic, flat, tree-lined course starts and finishes at Russell Youth Center, 680 Huron Ave., Cambridge.
