Complete with courtly intrigue, ghostly apparitions, and a deathly gambling problem, this opera follows the plight of Gherman, whose fascination with the beautiful Liza turns into an obsession with learning her grandmother's secret strategy for winning at cards. When she dies without revealing her secret, his obsession turns to madness. With a final card game imminent, the Countess' ghost returns to reveal the winning hand... and to exact her revenge. It will be performed in Russian with full orchestra.
