Make Me Dance, (60 min) is a documentary that takes an in-depth look at one of the most prestigious dance schools in the U.S.: Boston Conservatory at Berklee. In the film, world-renowned choreographer Darrell Moultrie, a proud New Yorker who was born and raised in Harlem and studied at the Juilliard School, has chosen to hold residency at Boston Conservatory to craft his new work, Winds of Now, for the school’s young dancers. Moultrie brings his energy and convictions to break the stereotypes of dance body types (i.e., the “ballet look”) to redefine what it means to be a dancer, and to have these new views be accepted into the ballet and modern dance world. The film documents Moultrie’s choreography and his drive for perfection as unlocks students’ talent to create Winds of Now—from very conception through rehearsals, culminating in opening night at Boston Conservatory.
