Cantores y ministriles: Music in Seville in The Golden Age (with Dark Horse Consort)

8:00 PM - 9:45 PM Saturday, April 2, 2016

Location:
First Church in Cambridge, Congregational, 11 Garden Street

Blue Heron and the stellar wind band Dark Horse Consort present a festive program of music from 16th-century Seville. Many of the greatest Spanish composers of the century were associated with the city and its cathedral, including Peñalosa, Morales, Guerrero, and Lobo; Guerrero spent most of his life and career there and carefully nurtured the cathedral’s wind band, which was established in 1526 — possibly the first in Europe.
