During January, 1997 the City Manager reported to the City Council that 6,465 units of subsidized housing exists in Cambridge, or 15.47% of the housing stock. The latter percentage figure reflects a comparison to the 1990 U. S. Census housing stock count of 41,979 units. | ||
| 2. Subsidized owner occupied units are those where public subsidy has written down the price and a deed restriction protects the long term affordability of the unit. | ||
| 3. Subsidized rental units include both public housing and privately owned assisted units; this figure does not include units subsidized through either a mobile certificate or a voucher belonging to a resident. | ||
