Requesting Fire Department Presence
Fire Department apparatus and personnel can be requested for events inside and outside the City of Cambridge. Those requests will be honored when appropriate and when the Fire Department's minimum requirements for personnel and apparatus allow. Requests include such events and functions as funeral details, parades, neighborhood events, school and daycare visits, and fire safety talks.

For events inside the city there are two ways to make requests. If your event required you to attend a City of Cambridge Special Events Committee Meeting, contact Deputy Chief Brian Gover, 617-349-4944, email. Otherwise, contact Lieutenant Mike Hughes, 617-349-4153, email.
Requests for Fire Safety talks are accommodated through the S.A.F.E. program. Our instructors will give home and fire safety talks to groups such as the elderly, foster care, industry, etc. and we will also attend safety fairs at companies and community events when the instructors' schedules permit. Requests for fire details due to use of candles or cutting and welding are handled by our Fire Prevention Office.
