Residents of the neighborhood around the intersection of Raymond and Walden Streets have expressed great concern regarding the ability to safely cross the intersection and have requested that a pedestrian light be installed; and
WHEREAS:
Neighborhood residents have met with representatives of the City's Traffic Department on this issue and were told the the head of the Traffic and Parking Department that people just do not use pedestrian crossing lights; and
WHEREAS:
In response to this statement, many who utilize the park at the corner of Raymond and Walden Streets have continued to repeatedly request a pedestrian crossing light be installed and insist that they need it and would most certainly use it; and
WHEREAS:
No rational reason has been provided as to why the pedestrian crossing light cannot be installed at this intersection; only Sue Clipinger's response that people do not use them; now therefore be it
ORDERED:
That the City Manager be and hereby is requested to instruct the Traffic, Parking and Transportation Director to install a pedestrian crossing light at the intersection of Raymond and Walden Streets.
