In the May 14th edition of the Boston Globe there was an article entitled "Police to review policy on rape alert"; and
WHEREAS:
In this article it was stated that, regarding rape alerts, the Boston Police Department does "...not put out alerts until we detect a pattern"; and
WHEREAS:
This policy is coming under criticism and scrutiny as an immediate rape alert could possibly prevent further attacks due to increased community awareness and vigilance; now therefore be it
ORDERED:
That the City Manager be and hereby is requested to confer with the Police Commissioner and to inform the Council as to the City's policy regarding rape alerts; and be it further
ORDERED:
That the City Manager is requested to report back to the City Council on this matter.
