Is a photograph just a recording of what is in front of the photographer or is it a symbolic representation of what is inside a photographer? Photographer and educator Patricia Turner considers the question in a presentation that explores a unique approach to photographing the world around us. Where traditional photography focuses on subject and technique, contemplative photography makes the connection between meaning and personal experience the over-riding emphasis. This presentation will delve into visual listening, the contemplative eye, communing with the landscape, and exploring metaphors. Patricia will share her unique practice in this introductory presentation and will then return on Sunday, October 20th to lead a field excursion with cameras and field journals in hand. Registration is required; limited to 20 people. This is a Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation-sponsored event; please register with Elizabeth Wylde at email@example.com or call 617-349-6489 and leave your name and phone number. Important parking information will be given after registering.
