After many years of planning, the rehabilitation of the Cambridge Common and the addition of a multi-use path in Flagstaff Park will soon begin. Newport Construction has been engaged by the MassDOT to complete this construction beginning in early June, 2014. Construction is anticipated to last approximately 18-24 months.

Project Goals

  • Improved pathways within the Cambridge Common.
  • New benches, trash and recycling receptacles, many new trees and grass, improved playing fields and irrigation.
  • Addition of a two-way multi-use path across the street through Flagstaff Park, along Massachusetts Avenue.

For additional information regarding construction, please contact Claude Noailles at MassDOT by e-mail at Claude.Noailles@dot.state.ma.us.
