NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING
Removal of Public Shade Trees
City of Cambridge, Department of Public Works


Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, Sections 3 and 4, a public hearing will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 at 5:30 pm at 147 Hampshire St, Cambridge, Mass., to consider the removal of the following public tree(s):

1. 309 Huron Ave – Removal of 4.2" red maple due dieback and wounding along trunk. Location will be replanted.
2. 452 Huron Ave – Removal of 19.5" Norway maple due to dieback, cavities within canopy, root damage, and frost crack along trunk. Location will be replanted.
3. 469 Huron Ave – Removal of 31.8" London planetree due to large cavity at base of tree. Location will be replanted.
4. 490 Huron Ave – Removal of 17.2” Norway maple due to cavity along trunk. Location will be replanted.
5. 502 Huron Ave – Removal of 8.5" sophora due to canopy dieback.
6. 26 Reservoir St – Removal of 14.4" ash due to trunk wound, and root damage.
7. 64 Highland St (on Reservoir St) – Removal of 14.5" linden due to trunk decay/cavity.
8. 65 Reservoir St – Removal of 18.8" Norway maple due to structural issues along trunk and within canopy. Location will be replanted.
9. 76 Reservoir St – Removal of 24.4" Norway maple due to decay/cavities within canopy. Location will be replanted.
10. 80 Reservoir St – Removal of 5.5" sugar maple due to significant trunk wounding. Location will be replanted.
11. 46 Fayerweather St – Removal of 15.8" pear due to storm damage, trunk wounding, and fungus at base of tree. Location will be replanted.
12. 94 Fayerweather St – Removal of 6.5" sugar maple due to dieback, and wounding along trunk. Location will be replanted.
13. 117 Fayerweather St – Removal of 19.5" Norway maple due to decay pocket, dieback, and storm damage. Location will be replanted.
14. 149 Chilton St – Removal of17.9” Norway maple due to cavities within trunk. Location will be replanted.
15. 187 Fayerweather St – Removal of 16.5” Norway maple due to structural issues. Location will be replanted.
16. 15-17 Field St – Removal of 28 Norway maple due to cavity at base of tree and structural issues within canopy. Location will be replanted.
17. 218 Garden St (on Hazel) – Removal of 22.3” Norway maple due to cavities within canopy.
18. 302-304 Walden St – Removal 22.1” Norway maple due to cavities. Location will be replanted.
19. 312-314 Walden St – Removal of 8.9” Norway maple due to cavities and canopy dieback. Location will be replanted.
20. 325 Walden St – Removal of 21.7” Norway maple due to cavities and structural issues. Location will be replanted.
21. 328 Walden St – Removal of 35.9” oak due to fungus at base of tree and canopy dieback. Location will be replanted.
22. 333-335 Walden St – Removal of 21.2” Norway maple due to cavities and canopy dieback. Location will be replanted.
23. 338-340 Walden St – Removal of 4” Japanese tree lilac due to structural issues. Location will be replanted.
24. 5 Harwell Dr – Removal of 20.1” silver maple due to significant root damage.
25. 33 Elmwood Ave – Removal of 18” black locust due to severe lean.
26. 1 Cambridge Center (on Broadway) – Removal of 7.4” ginkgo due to dieback and wound at base of trunk. Location will be replanted.


The tree(s) identified above have been posted for public inspection. Any objections to their removal must be submitted in writing to the City Arborist, prior to or during the hearing.
