      NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING Removal of Public Shade Trees City of Cambridge, Department of Public Works Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, Sections 3 and 4, a public hearing will be held on Tuesday, December 1st, 2015 at 5:30 pm at 147 Hampshire St, Cambridge, Mass., to consider the removal of the following public tree(s): 1. Dunster Street (even side between Mass Ave. and Mt Auburn St.) – Removal of 11 pear trees (9.5”, 10.8”, 11.7”, 12.3”, 10.3”, 13.9”, 14.6”, 12”, 7.4”, 5.2”, and 7.4”) due to poor structure and private property development. Location will be replanted. 2. Holyoke Street (odd side between Mt Auburn St. and Mass Ave.) – Removal of 14 pear trees (13.6”, 13”, 17.7”, 18.1”, 13”, 12.7”, 11.9”, 3.8”, 3.7”, 3.7”, 17.2”, 17.2”, 6.7”, and 10.8”) due to poor structure and private property development. Location will be replanted. The tree(s) identified above have been posted for public inspection. Any objections to their removal must be submitted in writing to the City Arborist, prior to or during the hearing.       In May 2013, the City of Cambridge established a Transit Advisory Committee to advance an agenda for a robust public transportation system for those who live and/or work in Cambridge. The committee will guide Cambridge city positions and policies regarding long term sustainable funding for transit by the Commonwealth, transit expansion, service planning for modification or expansion of bus routes, and service reliability and improvements including ways to better design our street network to prioritize bus transit.

    • Parker Street Reconstruction Project Community Meeting

      Buckingham Browne & Nichols Lower School 10 Buckingham Street Cambridge, MA The meeting will be held in the school’s gymnasium and attendees are asked to enter this brick building via a door off Parker Street.

      The City of Cambridge has received requests from residents for traffic calming on Parker Street, and city staff would like to work with residents to discuss possible physical changes to the road that could be incorporated in this project to slow vehicles and increase pedestrian safety.
