Newly Restored and Expanded Main Library Reopens Nov. 8
10/16/2009
The Cambridge community is invited to an Open House and Ribbon Cutting for the newly restored and expanded Main Library building on Thursday, October 29, from 5-7:30 p.m. The official ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. RSVP required for ceremony only. Please call 617-349-4032.
“The City of Cambridge has never before undertaken such an ambitious library construction project,” said Cambridge Public Library Director Susan Flannery. “To celebrate this historic event, the six branch libraries will be closed during the week of Nov. 8 as we want the entire library staff to participate in this historic, one-time achievement. We need all ‘hands on deck’ during the first week when we anticipate record breaking crowds.”
Library services at the Main Library will not be available on Oct. 29 and all branch libraries will close at noon that day. On Sunday, November 8, the Main Library will open for library services from 2 - 5 p.m. Regular hours will resume on Monday, Nov. 9. All Branches will be closed from November 9-14.
