Upcoming Training on Stretch Energy Code Feb. 24
On December 21, 2009, the Cambridge City Council voted to adopt the Stretch Energy Code appendix. This means the higher standards for energy efficiency in building projects will go into effect on July 1, 2010. The City's Inspectional Services and Community Development departments are working on disseminating information to the community about the stretch energy code.
The state Board of Building Regulations and Standards, which created the stretch energy code, is holding trainings for code officials which are also open to the public at a cost to cover materials. The training schedule can be found on the website of the Center for Ecological Technology:
, the state’s training contractor. The training workshops will cover the base energy code as well as the stretch energy code appendix.
A commercial energy code session has been scheduled for:
Wednesday, February 24, from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.,
Cambridge City Hall Annex, 344 Broadway, 2nd floor
The City expects a residential code training to also be held in Cambridge in the spring. For more information about the stretch energy code go to
