Susan Walsh, Division Head/Workforce Development, Human Services Department

Sue Walsh (seated ctr) with Office of Workforce Development Staff.

Sue Walsh has lead the Office of Workforce Development through growth and change which has allowed it to provide high quality services across the board to a wide array of customers. She was instrumental in the development of the Cambridge Works Transitional Jobs Program which helps Cambridge residents who have not been able to find or hold jobs to get a strong leg up into the workforce. Under Sue’s leadership, the Cambridge Employment Program has been retooling its services to ensure that residents are being assisted to move steadily forward into employment.  Sue and her staff are currently collaborating with the high school and community agencies to explore ways to enhance the 21st Century Skills of our young people.

Sue works effectively with employer partners in the business, non-profit and higher education community in Cambridge.  Her excellent managerial skills and her ability to develop new initiatives while continuing to operate existing programs is nothing less than impressive.  The scope and quality of the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employment Program is just one example of this.

Sue combines a caring and calm manner with a sharp intellect and strong convictions about what the public deserves from City programs. We are privileged to have her as an outstanding member of our staff.
