March 27, 2010-Walk for Haiti
On Saturday March 27th, 2010 Mayor David P. Maher spoke to the crowd at the Seventh Annual Walk for Haiti to benefit Partners in Health. The event kicked off in front of Saint Paul’s Church in Harvard Square and was followed by a three mile walk next to the Charles River. Mayor Maher said “Greater Boston has the third largest Haitian community in the country and so many Haitians call Cambridge home…It’s a great day for us to be able to stand here with the Haitian community”. The event raised $50,000 for Partners in Health and the Mayor is proud to be in a community that comes together to help others, both in our own city and abroad.
March 11, 2010-Saint Patrick’s Day Luncheon
Mayor David P. Maher hosted the Mayor’s Saint Patrick’s Day Luncheon at Cambridge City Hall. The event featured traditional Irish fare of corn beef and cabbage as well as Irish music and bagpipers. All city employees were invited to this event to meet the Mayor and his staff and celebrate the Saint Patrick’s Day holiday. Mayor Maher said, “I’m pleased to be able to host this luncheon and bring people from all over the city together, I hope this is the first of many events to make this an open and welcoming Mayor’s Office”.
