Kendall Square Advisory Committee Seeks Members

The City of Cambridge is seeking volunteers to serve on the newly created Kendall Square Advisory Committee.  The Committee will advise city staff and a team of consultants developing roadway, sidewalk, lighting, open space and urban design improvements in Kendall Square.  Residents, workers, business owners and students who actively use Kendall Square are encouraged to apply. 

It is anticipated that the Committee will meet every other month over the next 9 to 12 months to develop an infrastructure master plan for the Kendall Square area, as well as detailed plans for Main Street between Broadway and Ames Street, which is slated to be fully reconstructed in 2011 / 2012.  As part of this effort, the Committee will be tasked with reviewing the function of all modes of travel including pedestrian, bicycle, transit and vehicular, and making recommendations for facilities for each mode, surface materials, lighting, tree planting / green spaces, as well as evaluating the existing open spaces and making recommendations for improvements.
