Library Receives Design Review Award from Architect Magazine
The Cambridge Public Library has received an Annual Design Review Award from Architect Magazine, one of the country’s two leading national architectural magazines. Featured in its November 2010 issue, the Architect Magazine’s annual awards program “showcases the best American architecture of the year.”
Cambridge Public Library received one of nine Awards given from nearly 300 entries. It was one of only two Award-winners in the “Bond” (as in “bonding”) category, which covers institutional, cultural and religious buildings.
The jury, comprised of five architects, cited in their comments a range of specific architectural and programming characteristics of the building, including its transparency and its indoor-outdoor connections.
