Cambridge Human Services Commission Vacancy
The City of Cambridge is seeking a Cambridge resident who is interested in volunteering to be a member of the nine-member Human Services Commission. The Commission usually meets with the Assistant City Manager for Human Services on the second Thursday of each month in the evening.
The Commission advises the City Manager and the Assistant City Manager for Human Services on human services policy issues and funding allocations. With the Department of Human Service Programs, the Commission also promotes activities that enhance the quality of life for Cambridge residents.
One important way the Commission has gathered information on local human services trends in the past is by receiving testimony at periodic needs assessment public hearings. Over the years, the Commission has responded to local needs by recommending Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for a wide, but diminishing range of programs offered by the city and by community agencies.
For more information, contact Jolyon Cowan at 617-349-6069 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Commission members serve without any compensation. Residents who wish to apply may send a letter of interest by Friday, February 3, 2012to:
