Cambridge Discovery Days 2012

Discover Cambridge with free walks and events on a variety of Cambridge topics, in neighborhoods throughout the city.  On Saturday, Aug. 4, explore Kendall Square with Charles Sullivan, Executive Director of the Cambridge Historical Commission;  go back in time to Captain’s Island (today’s Magazine Beach);  learn about Cambridge’s early contributions to the Civil War;  meet Clara Barton, “Angel of the Battlefield” and founder of the American Red Cross.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, discover modern architecture in Old Cambridge;  stroll along historic Harvard Street;  learn about the life of the poet and scholar James Russell Lowell;  explore behind the scenes at Fresh Pond.   

Programs begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day, all across the city.
