Street Cleaning and Yard Waste PickUp Resumes Monday, Apr. 1
Street Cleaning resumes in Cambridge on Monday, April 1. Please check signs for parking restrictions between April and December to avoid being ticketed and/or towed. For more information on schedules and procedures visit www.cambridgema.gov/theworks.
This season the City is launching a new online Towed Vehicle Lookup Tool in association with the start of Street Cleaning. Please see www.cambridgema.gov/TowedVehicles for more information. This link can also be accessed from the Online Services section near the top left of the City's website, www.cambridgema.gov.
Street cleaning plays an important role in keeping local waterways clean by removing particles and chemicals before they can make their way to the Charles River or Alewife Brook, and by ensuring that catch basins are kept clean from debris and able to function efficiently.
Even if a sweeper has gone through an area once, please do not park there before the posted end time. Whenever feasible and necessary, the sweeper may make a second pass through a neighborhood. Public Works also cleans the inside of 2,500 catch basins annually, and knowing when streets will be free of parked cars helps when planning this major endeavor.
Yard Waste Collection also Resumes Apr. 1, continues through Dec. 13
Please place yard waste in paper refuse bags or loose in barrels at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day or after 6 p.m. the night before.
Please do not staple or tape bags. Barrels must have red city "Yard Waste Only" stickers, facing the street. Yard waste in plastic bags is not accepted and will not be picked up by trash or recycling crews.
Recycle leaves, grass and small twigs and branches (thinner than your thumb and shorter than your arm). Bundle thick tree limbs 2ft x 2ft.
