Hubway Celebrates Two Year Anniversary

Hubway 2-Year Anniversary 1 Million Rides

Join Hubway and representatives from the cities of Boston, Brookline, Cambridge and Somerville as we celebrate the Two Year Anniversary of the Hubway bike-share system. We’ll discuss the major milestones we’ve achieved, detail plans to expand and improve the service, and take the opportunity to meet with enthusiastic Hubway users. We’ll also unveil a specially designed ‘1 million rides’ bike.

On July 13, Hubway hit 1 million rides marking a significant milestone for the ever-expanding regional bike share system.  The system is fully integrated amongst the participating municipalities of Cambridge, Boston, Brookline and Somerville.  As of the mid July milestone, Hubway members to date had collectively ridden nearly 1.1 million miles, burned nearly 40 million calories and offset an estimated 285 tons of CO2.

“We are delighted to be celebrating the one year anniversary of Hubway in Cambridge together with the other exciting milestones the system has reached,” said Cambridge City Manager Richard C. Rossi. “It has been remarkable to witness the ever-increasing popularity of bike share and we look forward to continuing expansion of the system in the future.”
