Central Square Library Closed August 30 for Pre Construction Work
The City will be installing a new elevator at the Central Square Branch Library later this fall. In order to prepare for the upcoming construction work, the branch will be closed for the day on Friday, Aug. 30. There is demolition work required at the bottom of the elevator well, in order to take critical measurements. The work cannot be done safely while the building is open.
On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the Branch will open as usual, and remain open Monday through Saturday during the month of September. Please check for branch hours at: http://www.cambridgema.gov/cpl/hoursandlocations/centralsquarebranch.aspx
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Branch will close for the duration of the construction, which is expected to last 3 months.
During this period, the book drop in the courtyard will remain open.
While we are very grateful for this investment in the Central Square Branch, we do regret the inconvenience for the neighborhood. The staff at the two nearest branches, the Main Library and the Valente Branch Library, will be happy to serve you.
