Cambridge presented HeartSafe Community Award
The Metropolitan Boston Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc. has designated the City of Cambridge and Cambridge Fire Department as recipients of the HeartSafe Community Award for 2011.
The award was presented at the Eleventh Annual Region IV EMS Awards Ceremony in October. The award is given to a community that has “demonstrated a tremendous effort to improving the welfare and well being of its citizens and visitors through improved cardiac awareness, prevention and preparedness.”
The council is one of five state designated Emergency Medical Services Councils in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Also at the award ceremony, Cambridge Fire Captain/Paramedic Gregory Carter was honored as the EMS Supervisor of The Year, for meritorious service above and beyond the expectations of the profession.
