Nelson Mandela Condolence Book
Cambridge City Hall

The City of Cambridge is one of five locations in the Commonwealth hosting a Condolence Book in memory of Nelson Mandela. It will be available through Friday, Dec. 20 for citizens to share their memories and/or their condolences to the people of South Africa. This book will be located at the Mayor’s Office, Cambridge City Hall, 2nd floor, during regular business hours. The other books are located at the State House, Boston City Hall, Dorchester House and Old South Church. These Condolence Books will be presented to The Nelson Mandela Foundation in February 2014.

City officials hosted a special presentation Monday Dec. 9 at the beginning of the City Council meeting to honor the life and work of Nelson Mandela. The presentation featured reflections from guest speaker Mary Tiseo, Executive Director of South Africa Partners, a nonprofit organization facilitating mutually beneficial partnerships between U.S. and South Africa in the areas of health and education. Working with community organizations, academic institutions, and state and local government, South Africa Partners brings together practitioners from both countries who are committed to addressing social, political and economic needs in a manner that strengthens communities, builds institutional capacity and fosters local leadership. City councilors also shared their thoughts and memories on the loss of this inspiring man.
