ADVISORY: Cambridge Police to Participate in Urban Shield: Boston Training on Nov. 3rd
Hazmat training scenario to take place on Albany St. in Cambridge
The Cambridge Police Department will be participating in Urban Shield: Boston 2012, a 24-hour training large-scale public safety incidents in the metro-Boston area. Urban Shield: Boston will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and conclude at 8 a.m. Sunday. This training exercise is designed to enhance the ability of our police department, along with many other area public safety organizations, to coordinate and communicate during major events, incidents, and emergencies.
While Cambridge Police will be participating in multi-agency joint exercises throughout the metro Boston region, a training scenario will also be taking place with the Cambridge Fire Department at 195 Albany Street in Cambridge. The majority of activity will be confined to the interior of the building; however there will be some outside activity. There will be multiple police officers and firefighters entering and exiting the parking lot and building to engage in the training scenario. This hazmat scenario will include the use of FAKE/NON-LETHAL rounds, tents, decontamination stations, fire apparatus, and police vehicles. Please do not be alarmed as this is only SIMULATED for TRAINING PURPOSES.
The Cambridge Police Department would like to make residents and businesses aware of the exercise in the event that you happen to notice "police" or “fire” activity and the chance of hearing any loud bangs and other noises in the area. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
