Adopt-A-Box Program

MailBox

The Postmaster of Cambridge, Katherine Lydon, Cambridge Postal Advisory Council and the Cambridge Consumers’ Council would like to invite you to participate in our Adopt-A-Box program, part of our continued effort to help beautify our Cambridge neighborhoods and do what we do best—Deliver for you!

About the Adopt-A-Box Program

As a voluntary "Adopter," you would help the Cambridge Post Office identify any repair issues with our blue "collection" boxes and green "relay" boxes, many of which sit directly in front of your home or business. If you notice that your adopted box has been vandalized or needs to be tended to by maintenance staff, we ask that you contact our program staff so we can take the appropriate action. Those interested in adopting a box should fill out an application. You can also contact the program coordinator to request an application.

Adopter Responsibilities

Adopters are responsible for notifying the Program Coordinator of any acts of vandalism or possible repair problems. Typical repair issues to monitor your box for include:

  • Damaged or unsecured boxes
  • Graffiti Faded and torn collection stickers
  • Rust Faded or chipped paint

Application Review and Notification

Applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Only completed applications will be considered. If you are submitting one application, but would like to adopt more than one box, please make sure your application reflects such. Once your application is processed, you will receive additional program information by mail. All applications should be processed within two weeks of submission.

Submission of Application

Please return completed applications and direct all questions concerning the program/application procedure to: Corey R. Pilz, Adopt-A-Box Program Coordinator,Cambridge Consumers’ Council,831 Massachusetts Avenue,Cambridge, MA 02139
