Serious crime in Cambridge slipped downward by 1% when compared with the first 11 months of 2011, and when measured against the 5-year weighted average for this time frame, a 5% decline (183 fewer crimes than the average) has been recorded.
After reporting small increases over the first three quarters of the year, the dramatic dip in serious crime in November, 52 fewer incidents than October, drove the overall rate into negative territory for the first time in 2012.
A detailed analysis of all statistics indicates that there were 18 additional property crimes recorded in the first 11 months of 2012, which translates to a 1% increase when measured against the 2011 statistics. Violent crime has fallen 8% between January 1st and December 3rd of 2012 when compared with 2011.
