CITIZEN ALERT: Cambridge Police Ask Students to be Vigilant while Walking to School
Student Reports Being Followed While Walking to School
A Peabody School student reported being approached by an adult they did not know and followed yesterday (1/17) morning on the way to school. The student informed school staff who immediately contacted the child’s parents and the Cambridge Police Department.
The student described the male as being a white male in his 50's, about 5'7'', medium build, with a white beard.
Cambridge Police are actively investigating the reported activity, have placed extra resources in the area, and have notified all School Resource Officers of the incident.
Although investigators have not been able to determine the motives of the individual in question at this time, CPD asks that parents and caregivers please remind children to be vigilant about stranger-danger. Children should not talk to anyone they do not know, and if an issue happens that they feel uncomfortable with, they should find an adult they trust and report any suspicious activity as soon as possible.
