Cambridge Police Department Promotes 3 at City Hall Ceremony
One promoted to rank of Police Lieutenant, two to Police Sergeant
The Cambridge Police Department held a promotion ceremony inside the Sullivan Chamber at Cambridge City Hall on the morning of February 27, 2012.
At the ceremony, Paul W. Timmins was promoted to the rank of Police Lieutenant and Frederick J. Cabral and Louis F. Cherubino, Jr. were promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant.
City Manager Robert W. Healy, Deputy City Manager Richard Rossi, Mayor Henrietta Davis, Vice Mayor E. Denise Simmons, City Clerk Margaret Drury, and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas joined family members and friends at the ceremony to honor the officers and congratulate them on their promotions.
"It’s a pleasure to be here to honor those being raised in their positions," said Mayor Henrietta Davis. "We are proud of our police department in this City, a department which sets a standard for the entire Commonwealth."
City Manager Robert W. Healy echoed Mayor Davis’ remarks, stating, "The Cambridge Police Department is the finest municipal police department in the state, if not elsewhere." He then addressed the officers, wishing them "congratulations, good luck, and good health."
Before reciting the oath of office and receiving their badges, Commissioner Haas addressed the officers, saying, "The days of moving up in the ranks and doing less work are over, and you all recognize that." Haas also thanked the family members in attendance for their support.
After presiding over her 294th, 295th, and 296th swearing-in, City Clerk Margaret Drury was honored by Commissioner Haas for her years of service and presented with a commemorative clock as a token of CPD’s appreciation for her administration of this important function.
