ALERT: Willow Street Shooting
Authorities investigating shooting on Willow Street
Authorities are investigating a double shooting that resulted in one fatality, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas informed the public.
According to authorities, at approximately 8:05pm on June 3, Cambridge Police received a 911 call reporting an apparent shooting on Willow Street in Cambridge. An initial investigation has revealed that two female victims, aged 16 and 17, were shot on Willow Street. Both victims were transported to the hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, where one victim succumbed to her injuries. The second victim remains in critical condition.
At this point in the investigation, every indication is that this was not a random act. However, it appears the victims happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
In order to maintain the integrity of this investigation, any additional information will be released by the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office as they are the lead agency investigating the incident.
The Cambridge Police Department recognizes that this is an extremely difficult and emotional time and many people have questions.
