Cambridge Public Library announces the second annual Margret and H. A. Rey Curious George Lecture Series with the children’s author and graphic novelist Raina Telgemeier on March 15

CAMBRIDGE, MA – December 19, 2017 – The Cambridge Public Library names the acclaimed children’s author, artist, and graphic novelist Raina Telgemeier the speaker for the second annual Margret and H. A. Rey Curious George Lecture Series. The event will take place on March 15, 2018, at the Main Library, 449 Broadway. This event connects children and their families to the magic of reading through a personal experience with an author or illustrator.

“I’m thrilled that the Library is continuing the tradition of hosting celebrated and beloved authors and illustrators with Raina Telgemeier,” said Julie Roach, Youth Services Manager. “This series connects all children in our community to creators of books that are truly meaningful to them.”

The lecture series—developed in partnership with the Margret and H. A. Rey Curious George Fund—creates a community celebration around outstanding, engaging books for young readers. Speakers are chosen in honor of Margret and H. A. Rey, Cambridge residents who created many beloved children’s books, including Curious George

“We are so pleased to have the support of the Margret and H. A. Rey Curious George Fund to continue our important work supporting early literacy in Cambridge,” said Maria McCauley, Director of Libraries. “Raina Telgemeier is the perfect addition to this much-anticipated annual event.”

Titles from Telgemeier’s catalog include the #1 bestsellers; Smile, Drama and, most recently, Ghosts. Telgemeier’s accolades include two Eisner Awards, a Boston Globe-Horn Book Honor, a Stonewall Honor, and many “Best of” and “Notable” lists.

The Margret and H. A. Rey Lecture Series will take place on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 6:30 PM in the Main Library Lecture Hall.
