Due to a change in schedule, the Story time with the Librarian of Congress on Saturday, March 17 is canceled. Thank you for your understanding.

Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, to visit Cambridge Public Library on Saturday, March 17 for children’s story time.

The Cambridge Public Library is honored to announce a visit to the Main Library from the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden. Dr. Hayden will participate in a special children’s story time event on March 17th. Children can listen to the Librarian of Congress read stories and speak to the crowd starting at 11:30 AM. 


“We are delighted to have Dr. Carla Hayden visit the Cambridge Public Library,” said Dr. Maria McCauley, Director of Libraries. “Dr. Hayden is a role model for young people everywhere. She is a great leader in our profession.” 

Dr. Carla Hayden was sworn in as the 14th Librarian of Congress on September 14, 2016. Hayden, the first woman and the first African American to lead the national library, was nominated to the position by President Barack Obama on February 24, 2016, and her nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 13, 2016. 

The story time with the Librarian of Congress will take place on Saturday, March 17, 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM in the children’s room at the Main Library, 449 Broadway. Guests are asked to arrive by 11:00 AM. Seating is limited at this event.
