Raising children and trying to write. Writing and trying to raise children. What are the challenges? The pleasures? PEN New England had a panel on this topic 25 years ago. Has anything changed? Five distinguished writers who are also mothers discuss how it works—and occasionally doesn't—for them.
Speakers include Lily King (Euphoria), Kim McLarin (Divorce Dog: Motherhood, Men & Midlife), Claire Messud (The Woman Upstairs), Megan Marshall (Pulitzer Prize winner Margaret Fuller: A New American Life), and moderator Heidi Pitlor (series editor of The Best American Short Stories and author of the upcoming The Daylight Marriage).
