The Role of GIS in Cambridge
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer resource that makes map creation and information retrieval efficient and easy. The City of Cambridge uses GIS to create, maintain, and analyze its spatial information. GIS has become an important component for projects in nearly every department of the City. Some examples of available Cambridge GIS data include roads, buildings, tax parcels, water lines, street lights, and aerial photographs.
NEW! MyCambridge Address Search Tool
We are excited to introduce our new address dashboard called myCambridge! This tool allows you to search for a valid Cambridge street address and the page will return a wealth of information about the address. Details include: other addresses within the building, links to the Assessing site, neighborhood and historic information, as well as elected officials and voting, recycling, street sweeping, and other location based information for the address.

New Version of Cambridge CityViewer
Cambridge CityViewer has been updated and will now support the browsers Safari & Chrome. We are also working on a mobile version of this tool.
Web GIS Maps on Community Development and DPW Web Sites
New easy to use interactive GIS Web tools have been rolled out within the new Community Devlopment Department Web page. Several different themes are included in the Web page including Parks, CDD Projects, Commercial Districts, Special Permits, and LEED Buildings. These tools allow the user to get detailed information about the theme by clicking a single point on the map. To see the new maps visit www.cambridgema.gov/CDD. Also, a new map for Public Dedications has been introduced and several more Public Works viewers will coming soon!

We have updated the collection of static GIS maps and the Web pages presenting these maps on the GIS Web page. Please visit the 'Map Galleries' link on this page. Thumbnails are included for each map and a link to open or save the pdf file. There are also links to Map Gallaries on other City Web pages as well.
Cambridge CityViewer Interactive GIS Tools
The Cambridge CityViewer allows residents and City staff to obtain GIS information and related City data sources. In order to start viewing, querying, and creating maps, all you need is an Internet Explorer browser. Each CityViewer link contains different map data in it.
