Special Event - Pride Brunch - June 12, 2010
The GLBT Commission and the Mayor's Office held the annual Pride Brunch at City Hall. This was the 20th anniversary of this event. Delicious food from local restaurants. Keynote speaker was Marty Walz (State Rep from the Suffolk 8th district (which includes Cambridge), Recognition Awards were given to Chris Mason and Chris "Potter" deBella and Leslie Sterling, and the Rose Lipkin Award to Angela McKenzie. Bus rides were provided to the Boston Pride March which started at noon in the South End and terminates at Boston City Hall Plaza where there will be a festival with food, entertainment, and information booths.
The Theme was Riots to Rights - Celebrating 40 Years of Progress honoring all that has transpired since the 1969 Stonewall Rebellion in NYC leading to milestones such as the first same-sex marriage in the US that took place in Cambridge City Hall at 12:01 am on May 17, 2004. Cambridge has been a pioneer in many GLBT activities.
