Dear Cambridge Taxpayer:
Did you know that the City of Cambridge has been offering scholarships to eligible Cambridge high school seniors and others pursuing higher education? In fact, last year, thanks to the generous support of many area residents and businesses, the City awarded 80 scholarships for $2,500 each to a diverse group of very deserving students.
With the economy being what it is, every single dollar counts and can help cover the very expensive costs of continuing education for many Cambridge students. If you’ve contributed to this worthy program in the past, we offer our sincerest thanks and we hope that we can count on your continued support this year. If not, we hope you will give it serious consideration.
The City Scholarship program is open to all Cambridge residents. In order to be eligible, applicants must be currently attending, have an application pending or have received acceptance to attend an institute of higher education beyond high school level prior to the time for payment of scholarship award. This is one-time scholarship in an effort to give more eligible applicants an opportunity to receive some financial assistance.
Award recipients are selected based on a number of criteria including academic achievement, school and community involvement, work experience, aspirations and goals, financial need, special circumstances, etc. Applicants must also identify a person such as a school counselor or advisor, instructor, supervisor or other professional person to complete a short evaluation form.
Thank you on behalf of the Trustees of the Cambridge Scholarship Fund.
