New Bicycle Signal - Cedar Street at Massachusetts Avenue:

In an effort to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of bicycles traveling along the Alewife Linear Park Path, bicycle signals have been installed at the intersection of Cedar Street at Massachusetts Avenue.  This week the project will be rounded out with the application of new pavement markings highlighting the dedicated bicycle intersection crossing.

These bicycle signals will add a bicycle only signal phase to the intersection's traffic pattern.  This phase overlaps the left turn movement from Massachusetts Avenue to Harvey Street, providing cyclists with an opportunity to move through the intersection in a safe manner separate from vehicular traffic.

Click here for more information on what bicycle signals are, their benefits, and where other bicycle signals are located in the City of Cambridge.
