November 10, 2014

Final roadway paving has been completed. We are currently working with the contractor to finalize a date for line striping.

November 3, 2014

On Thursday, November 6 (weather permitting), DeRoma & Sons (City’s contractor) and NStar Gas will mobilize to the area to uncover two gas valve boxes, critical to NStar Gas’ services, in the Scott St/Irving St/Farrar St raised intersection. This operation is expected to be completed within two days and motorists will maintain access through the raised intersection. General work hours will now be 7AM to 4PM and “No Parking” signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of construction. Emergency vehicles will maintain access at all times.

October 28, 2014

Roadway paving is scheduled to take place this Friday, October 31. Operations will begin at 7am and is expected to be completed by early afternoon.

Weather permitting, the final roadway paving is scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2014. A notice will be circulated to area residents during the week of October 27.

September 24, 2014

As part of the Irving Street/Scott Street Reconstruction Project, the City’s contractor, D’Allessandro Corporation, is scheduled to resume roadway reconstruction in the project area during the week of September 29. During the next 2-3 weeks, crews need to make adjustments to the current roadway conditions in preparation for the final roadway paving operation. The final roadway paving is scheduled for the end of October 2014. Another notice will circulate to area residents when a paving date has been solidified.

September 22, 2014

Next week, the City's contractor is expected to mobilize to the area to perform activities related to the roadway reconstruction phase of the project. Final paving is expected to be completed at the end of October 2014.

 

The reconstruction of sidewalks and roadway is expected to be completed in September 2013. Beginning in June 2013, NSTAR Gas updated services on Irving Street and Scott Street. During the week of July 8, NSTAR Gas completed this work. The City's contractor, Tasco Construction Company, will begin to adjust drainage structures, which will be followed by the reconstruction of the sidewalks and roadway.

What to Expect During Construction
• General work hours will be 7AM to 4 PM, Monday-Friday.

• “No Parking” signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of construction; please be sure to check posted signs for exact dates and times.

• When work occurs directly in front of driveways or entryways, the contractor will coordinate access directly with residents.

 

Traffic Calming Improvements (see attached plan for details):

  • Scott / Irving / Farrar Intersection
    • Raised intersection, squared off corners,  and addition of two green spaces for plantings
  • Irving / Kirkland Intersection
    • Narrow Irving St at Kirkland St to match the rest of Irving Street, new crosswalk across Kirkland St, curb extensions, and addition of green space for planting.

Sidewalk Reconstruction and Roadway Paving:

  • Irving St between Kirkland and Scott St
  • Scott St between Irving St and Bryant St

Utilities:

  • Scott St between Irving St and Bryant St
    • A new water main and a new drain line.
