Mead Street Reconstruction

 

August 29, 2014

On Tuesday, September 2 (weather permitting), the City’s contractor, D’Allessandro Corporation, will begin to mobilize to the area to begin drainage work. The remainder of the project includes the installation of drainage structure, sidewalk reconstruction and roadway paving. Construction activity will continue for approximately 5 weeks, with the roadway paving scheduled for mid/late October 2014.

What to Expect During Construction
• General work hours will be 7AM to 4 PM, Monday-Friday.
• During the week of September 1st (no work on Labor Day), Mead Street will be closed at Walden Street to perform drainage operations. Mead Street residents will need to enter/exit the area via Cogswell Avenue.
• “No Parking” signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of construction; please be sure to check posted signs for exact dates and times.
• When work occurs directly in front of driveways or entryways, the contractor will coordinate access directly with residents.
• Mead Street will remain open during the sidewalk reconstruction phase of the project.
• Residents of Mead Street will maintain access to their properties throughout construction.
• City services will continue uninterrupted.

August 21, 2014

Due to unforeseen circumstances, crews will not begin work on the Mead Street Reconstruction project until the week of September 1st (no work will be permitted on Labor Day). When crews mobilize to the area, they will begin with tree protection and drainage work. Should any road closures emerge as a result of the drainage work, area residents will be notified in advance via email and hard copy flyer.

August 13, 2014

The City has awarded the contract for the reconstruction of Mead Street to D’Allessandro Corporation. This project includes the installation of drainage structure, sidewalk reconstruction and roadway paving. During the week of August 18, 2014, the City’s contractor will begin to mobilize to the area to begin the drainage work. Construction activity will continue for approximately 5 weeks, with the roadway paving scheduled for mid/late October 2014.

• At times during the installation of drainage structures on Mead Street, Mead Street and Cogswell Avenue may be closed simultaneously to through traffic, but will remain open for abutters.
• The roadway is expected to remain open during the sidewalk reconstruction phase of this project.
• Residents of Mead Street will maintain access to their properties throughout construction.
• City services will continue uninterrupted.

Crews anticipate to begin the work within the next 2-3 weeks. Abutters will receive notification approximately one week in advance of the work.

The Mead Street Reconstruction Project has been awarded to D'Allessandro Corporation. The schedule will be published on the website when it becomes available.

The Mead Street Reconstruction Project is scheduled to begin between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015. The project is currently in the bidding process and a contractor is expected to be selected in June 2014.

No project schedule has been established. We are currently in the bidding process and expect to have a schedule available in July 2014.

The Mead Street Reconstruction Project includes:

- Roadway reconstruction

- Sidewalk reconstruction

- Traffic calming measures
