May 23, 2014

On Tuesday, May 27, the City’s contractor, Marchese Construction, will mobilize on Tufts St to begin surface improvements. The scope of work includes drainage upgrades, new sidewalks, new roadway and street trees. We expect the work to take about 6-8 weeks to complete and we will continue to update neighbors as the work progresses. General works hours will be 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday, and during work hours, Tufts Street will be closed to through traffic but open to abutters. Pedestrian and vehicle access into properties will be maintained at all times, but may be restricted intermittently. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times and city services will continue uninterrupted.

This project is a part of the City's Five Year Roadway and Sidewalk Maintenance Program. The work is scheduled to take place in May and June 2014. The contractor anticipates that the project will take 6-8 weeks to complete.

• Crews will first install new catch basins on Tufts St, which is expected take about 1 week to complete.
• Once crews complete the drainage work, crews will begin roadway reconstruction, which is expected to take about 1 week to complete.
• Sidewalk reconstruction will follow the roadway work.
