City Hall Window Restoration Project

City Hall

This project has been completed. No further updates to this project page will be made.

July 2015

Beginning on Monday, July 13, 2015, scaffolding will be erected along the Mass. Ave., Bigelow St, and Inman St. sides of the building. It will take seven to ten days to install this scaffolding. The Dottie Doyle Way side of the building will not have scaffolding; instead, the City’s contractor will utilize mobile boom lifts to restore windows on that side as needed.

This entire project will take approximately 6 months to complete. General work hours will be Mon- Fri, 7 am to 4 pm. The contractor will work on different sections of the building in phases, and will coordinate with offices when they are to be impacted. They will try to schedule as much work during dates when people will be out of the office as possible. Please check posted signage on street throughout the project, as there will be periodic impacts to parking.

The restoration work will be on the exterior, wooden portions of the windows. There is no interior work or glass replacement involved. While under construction, each window will be sealed with plastic on the inside to keep dust from reaching building occupants. Once each phase of window restoration has been completed, the plastic sealing those windows will be carefully removed and the windows and associated components will be cleaned outside of office hours.
