What can I do?

  • Be a smart and active consumer.
  • Product packaging: Look for another brand with less packaging and give feedback to manufacturers and retailers that you want them to use more easily recycled materials.
  • At restaurants, ask for more recyclable packaging like aluminum foil or less harmful packaging like Chinese food containers.
  • Bring your own containers and mugs.
  • Be creative about reducing and reusing.

National Mail Back Program

If you want to continue to recycle Styrofoam, the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers has a national mail back program that accepts and recycles Styrofoam if sent to 1298 Cronson Boulevard, Suite 201, Crofton, MD 21114 USA. Their website is www.epspackaging.org and phone number is (410) 451-8340.
