Description
Huron Ave, between Concord Ave. and Raymond St., is scheduled for upcoming street and sidewalk reconstruction as part of the City’s 5 Year Plan. The Department of Public Works and the City’s Community Development Department will be hosting a third community meeting on
Tuesday, September 25th from 6PM-7:30PM at the Tobin School Auditorium, 197 Vassal Lane to discuss the Huron Ave. Reconstruction Project.
At the two previous meetings on April 23rd and June 14th we discussed:
- Traffic calming measures
- Congestion at the intersection of Huron Ave. and Garden St.
- Pedestrian safety concerns at the intersection of Huron Ave. and Raymond St.
- Bike safety concerns at congested intersections
- Evaluation of existing trees and potential locations for new trees
As a result of these discussions, we have:
- Met with the fire department to review design options
- Conducted a parking study to evaluate the demand for on-street parking and assess the loading zone requirements to support local businesses
- Met with the Bicycle, Pedestrian and Transit Committees
- Met with the City Arborist to strategize ways to increase street trees
The goal of this third meeting will be to discuss the information we’ve received and present our recommendations for improving this section of Huron Ave. for all of the various users of the street.
We encourage you to attend, as we value the feedback we receive from Cambridge residents and businesses.
