caution sign The information on this page may be outdated as it was published 8 years ago.

UPDATE: This project has taken the contractor longer than anticipated to complete but is expected to conclude by 12/11/2015.  Work is expected to occur on Saturday, December 5.

Eversource Gas and their contractor, Feeney Brothers, will be replacing the gas main on Green Street between Brookline St and Pearl St. The work will begin Saturday, November 14 and is expected to last 1-2 weeks, weather permitting.  Work hours will be limited to 9am to 3pm to minimize impacts to peak commuting times.  Road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place during work hours and we thank you in advance for your patience as this critical repair is completed.

What to Expect during Construction:

  • Crews will begin work on Saturday, November 14.
  • Work hours will be 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Saturday.
  • Monday through Friday, Green Street between Brookline St and Pearl St will be closed to traffic. All traffic, including MBTA buses, will be detoured around the work zone. Watch for detour signs and police details.
  • Pearl Street and Brookline Street will remain open Monday through Friday but will be closed on Saturdays until Eversource completes the work at those intersections.
  • Check MBTA.com for diversion routes for the 64, 70/70A, 47 and CT1 buses.
  • Expect delays and seek alternate routes, if possible.
  • “No Parking” signs will be posted; please be sure to check dates/times.
  • Police officers will be on site to assist with vehicle traffic and pedestrians.
  • Pedestrian access and access into properties will be maintained at all times, but may be restricted in certain ways. All sidewalks will remain open.
  • For local traffic, all businesses will remain open to patrons. Some parking in the immediate area may be restricted. Please look for “No Parking” signs, and ask police details or construction personnel if you are unsure.
  • Emergency vehicles will have access at all times and all city services will continue.
