Curbside Compost Expansion Open Houses

In 2009, the City set a goal to reduce residential trash disposal by 30% by 2020, and by 80% by 2050.

With that goal in mind, the City has committed to expanding the current curbside composting program to all residential buildings with 1 to 12 units beginning April 2nd, and we want you to be ready!

In March, program equipment (including a curbside compost cart, kitchen compost bin, compostable bags, and instructions) will be delivered to all eligible households in the city.

To help you prepare, City staff will be hosting three Composting Open House information sessions for residents to come with questions and to learn more about the Curbside Compost program. Please join us to learn more about how we can reduce the amount of trash we send to landfills by getting food scarps and other compostable materials out of our garbage!

Open House Dates and Locations:

  • Tuesday, March 20th, 6PM-7PM: Tobin School Auditorium
  • Saturday, March 24th, 11:30AM-12:30PM, Main Library Lecture Hall
  • Tuesday, March 27th, 6PM-7PM, Kennedy Longfellow Activity Room
